D.L. Hughley called out Kanye West’s threatening messages toward him after the comedian criticized how the rapper was treating Kim Kardashian amid their divorce.
“You can tell when people surround themselves with real ones. REAL ONES in your corner would NEVER allow you to threaten a man or his family, especially in a public forum,” Hughley wrote in a post to Instagram Sunday. “Mental health is no joke… neither is the safety of a man’s home and family. #TeamDL #KingS–t.”
The comedian, 59, also shared a screenshot of his tweet in which he insinuated that West, who has bipolar disorder, should be on medication to help his mental illness.
“Mmmm! Ain’t it weird that #Kanye supposedly has all these goons who will kill for him, but not one of them will get his prescriptions filled?” he wrote. “Here’s a thought while you’re on your way to kill me in Calabasas, how about somebody drop by CVS and pick up his Xanax! Lol.”
Hughley also poked fun at West’s Yeezy boots, tweeting, “Ain’t no way in hell I’d ever be scared of a dude who wears #IKnowWhatDidLastSummerBoots!!! #TeamDl.”
Finally, the comic went for the jugular, tweeting about how Pete Davidson was sleeping with West’s ex-wife.
“#Kanye!! It’s just too bad that you acting like a nut won’t stop #Pete from bustin one!!” he joked.
West, 44, made a threatening statement during his latest Instagram tirade over the weekend, writing in a since-deleted post, “DL Hughley is a pawn Yeah I know a king not supposed to address a pawn but I address everything and find addresses DL So don’t speak on me or my children I can afford to hurt u.”
In another post, the “Off the Grid” rapper shared a video of Hughley passing out on stage while suffering from COVID-19, writing, “We gone stop letting practicing drug addicts be used by leftist to Willie Lynch our Future Black people with our own opinion are not allowed to speak in public.
“I am the glitch DL God does not like you You have no favor Your family hates you I would hate to be related to somebody who used to be famous Now you just known as a broke pawn at least Oprah got billions ‘allegedly’ Come on leftist Y’all gotta do better than DL This Ye Bring the real smoke baby.”
The political commentator has spoken openly about his thoughts on West’s treatment of Kardashian, 41, and even claimed the Grammy winner was stalking her.
“I think that I’ve watched too many times when things like that happened and a woman or somebody is not believed. And then things escalate,” Hughley said during an interview with Vlad TV in February. “He is stalking her. You can think it’s cute. If it was my daughter, I’d do something about it. I don’t think it’s funny.
“I think that you can’t write a beat so good that you get to do these things. And society laughs it off because they say, ‘Well, she’s showing her ass all the time and he’s this and he’s that.’”
Hughley also commented on West’s mental health last August, claiming that the “Donda 2” artist blames his struggles when it’s convenient for him.
“He’s not so mentally ill that he’ll talk about any other group of people,” Hughley said at the time. “He talks about people that he knows he can get away with, and then he’s not so ill that he’s trying to be a disruptor in the political form. He’s not so ill that he takes $5 million in PPP payments, so he seems to be conveniently ill when it serves his purpose.”
West has consistently been dragging Kardashian and threatening her boyfriend, Davidson, on social media after she filed to divorce him in February 2021.
The “Saturday Night Live” star, 28, has stayed silent on the matter publicly, but his friend shared texts Davidson sent West standing up for Kardashian and pleading to stop the threats. Kardashian and Davidson went Instagram-official last week.
Kardashian was declared legally single earlier this month. She and West share four children: North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 2.
