Nick Kyrgios has teased that he could switch national allegiance from Australia to Greece in a social media post that has got the Internet talking.
Kyrgios, 28, was born in Canberra to a Greek father and a Malaysian mother, and has represented Australia since entering the professional tour as a prodigious teenager.
The explosive tennis star has endured a love-hate relationship with the Australian public during his rollercoaster career, with his antics dividing opinion across the nation.
And in a surprise post on Instagram alongside arch rival and Greece star Stefanos Tsitsipas, Kyrgios said: ‘Things could be looking nice for team Greece soon.’
Thanasi Kokkinakis, who also boasts a Greek background, was in the photo and commented: ‘Trouble…’ alongside a laughing emoji.

Women’s tennis star Paula Badosa, who is dating Tsitsipas, replied with a heart eyes emoji and a laughing emoji.
Kyrgios’s reunion with Tsitsipas has surprised fans given the hostile nature of their relationship following their explosive Wimbledon row in 2022.
Tsitsipas was not pleased with Kyrgios’s behaviour on the court during their fourth round clash, with the pair exchanging brutal words in the aftermath of the four-set match.
But Kyrgios appeared to extend the olive branch in Melbourne after tipping Tsitsipas to win this year’s Australian Open. The Greek was eliminated by Taylor Fritz in the last-16.
Posting on X/Twitter, Kyrgios said: ‘I think [Stefanos] Tsitsipas wins the Aus Open’.
Kyrgios has had a rocky relationship with his country, having irked Lleyton Hewitt after dropping out of the United Cup team at the start of 2023.
He remains sidelined with a wrist injury amid doubts over his future on the court.
