The Boston Celtics made the widely-reported potential suspension of head coach Ime Udoka official on Thursday evening, nearly 24 hours after ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski first broke news of a potential looming punishment for an unspecified violation of the team’s rules.
Little information was to be gleaned with the press release circulated by the franchise both terse and vague. “The Boston Celtics announced today that the team has suspended Head Coach Ime Udoka for the 2022-23 season for violations of team policies,” it began, with no further details about the nature of said policies that had been violated forthcoming at present.
“A decision about his future with the Celtics beyond this season will be made at a later date,” it continued. “The suspension takes effect immediately.”
