Celtics alum Sam Cassell to interview with Houston on Sunday for open head coaching gig

It seems that former Boston Celtics head coach Ime Udoka is not the only Celtics alum to be in the mix to be the next head coach of the Houston Rockets. Per the Athletic’s Kelly Iko, former Boston assistant and 2008 titlist Sam Cassell is reportedly set to interview with the Rockets about their head coaching vacancy after Houston moved on from coach Stephen Silas this Sunday, three days after Udoka.

While Udoka and ex-Los Angeles Lakers head coach Frank Vogel are seen as the likely front runners, the track record of Cassell with the Sixers and his history with the organization as a player could get him in the mix as well with a good interview.

His ties to current 76ers star guard James Harden, who the Rockets have been linked to pursuing this coming offseason, could also be a selling point for the Celtics alum.
