This year’s US Open is set to get underway next week, with Carlos Alcaraz seeking his second consecutive US Open title and third grand slam title after winning Wimbledon this year.

Alcaraz claimed his maiden Wimbledon title after beating one of the sport’s all time greats Novak Djokovic in an absolute thriller. The Spaniard came out on top 1-6, 7-6, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, to claim his second career grand slam and first ever Wimbledon title.

World number one Iga Swiatek won last year’s women’s title, beating Tunisia’s Ons Jabeur in straight sets, 6-2, 7-6, and will be hoping for a repeat of last year’s success.

The draw for this year’s tournament is still yet to take place with players set to find out their first round opponents on Thursday, 24th August.

There is significant cause for concern for British fans though with the status of both Andy Murray and Emma Raducanu currently uncertain due to injury.

When is the US Open

This year’s US Open is scheduled to get underway on Monday, August 28th.

It will be the 143rd edition of the the tournament, with the men’s final set to take place on the Sunday, September 10.

The women’s final is scheduled to take place a day before the men’s showdown on Arthur Ashe.
