The Brooklyn Nets are projected to take Arkansas Razorbacks wing Ricky Council IV with their 51st overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, per the latest mock draft by Bleacher Report. Council IV, 21, is a 6’6″ 205 LB junior guard from Durham, North Carolina that came to Arkansas as a three-star prospect after leading his high school, Southern Durham, to the North Carolina Class 3A state quarterfinals.

According to Sports Illustrated‘s scouting report, Council IV became one of the better scorers and defenders in the SEC. It seems that Council IV has the ability score without needing much athleticism, which is good overall, but will be something that he will have to overcome at the NBA level.

Going into the offseason, Brooklyn could use more guards and big men. Council IV profiles as a wing, which the Nets have plenty of, but if there are any trades that take place this offseason, those trades will most likely involve a wing player or two.

Council IV could be a good pick late in the second round given his upside if he plays at guard given his above-average positional size. Council IV could also give Brooklyn a guard who can hold his own on the defensive end of the floor considering that none of the guards on the roster outside of Mikal Bridges can offer that.
