While there certainly is an abundance of happiness among the Boston Celtics and their fans both, the lingering question of what it was that took so long for the team to find its way with its recent eight-game winning streak. The early, maddening inconsistency drove fans crazy on a regular basis, with late-game collapses part of the expected landscape of any given Celtics game, no matter the strength of the opponent.

Now, however, Boston has found its way on both ends of the ball and has a sense of how to use its strengths to knock teams off balance early and put them away late. Speaking to the media after the team’s most recent win over the Atlanta Hawks, star forward Jayson Tatum shared his thoughts on why this version of the team took so long to get things moving in the right direction.

“I think the reality is (that) we had a new staff, pretty much a new team,” he suggested.

“Everybody would have liked for us to just play like this out of the gate, and we made efforts,” added the Duke product.

“But the reality is things take time. There’s a lot of losses we wish we could have back and things we wish we could change. But we were all just adjusting to something new, a whole new coaching staff, a new brand of basketball a little bit … this is my fifth year now and you realize that certain parts of the season that are better than others, for whatever reason.”

“It’s just a long season, it goes like that,” shared Tatum.

“You realize that there are certain points where you kind of just click, things just feel a little bit more natural, and you figure it out, and it’s been showing lately,” said the Celtics star.

Things have indeed been clicking for Boston of late, and with news that new Philadelphia 76ers star James Harden will not be available for Tuesday’s tilt, we very well might be looking at Boston’s winning streak continuing even further with the way the team has played in recent games.
