Blake Griffin on the origin of the Boston Celtics’ Bus 1 Boys

You might have noticed that there is almost a team within a team on the Boston Celtics, their bench unit is exceptionally tight to the point they have a name for themselves — the Bus 1 Boys. And the Bus 1 Boys recently had their story broken down for the team-produced podcast “View from the Rafters” by Bus 1 Boy extraordinaire Blake Griffin.

The sometimes-comedian and always veteran big man got into how the name (and the group) took shape earlier this season on this iteration of the ball club in conversation with podcast hosts Marc D’Amico and Abby Chin.

Griffin, Sam Hauser, Payton Pritchard, Luke Kornet and others coming off of the bench for the Celtics in 2022-23 have formed an unusual bond as they take the first bus to and from the arena, the origin story of the nickname itself.

To hear more about the group, their going as far to develop a logo and the possibility of some potential merchandise in the future, take a look at the clip embedded above.
