Earlier in the opening ODI clash, the hosts outplayed Australia by 5 wickets. Batting first, Australia was bowled out for just 188 inside 36 overs. Opener Mitchell Marsh played a superb knock of 81 runs. However, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj hunted 3 wickets each to demolish Australia at a low total.
Later in the match, Mitchell Starc hunted 3 wickets to give a big blow to India’s top order. At one stage, India was railing at 39-4 in 10 overs. Then, KL Rahul (75*) and Ravindra Jadeja (45*) played incredible knocks to set up a winning partnership of 108 runs. And India managed to eventually win by 5 wickets.
Meanwhile, in the second ODI, Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian side. He missed the first ODI due to family commitments. However, Steve Smith will continue to lead the Australian side in the absence of Pat Cummins.
