Just days ago, the Los Angeles Lakers were 2-10 and on their second five-game losing streak of the season.

Many figured there was no way they would get themselves out of the hole they had dug for themselves.

But according to Anthony Davis, they had a productive meeting on Saturday where they discussed some important issues.

The following night, they finally got a win over the Brooklyn Nets, a team that had been surging lately by winning five of their previous seven games.

Davis said the talk was very constructive.

Via ESPN:

“We had conversations that a team that was 2-10 should have, you know?” Anthony Davis said Wednesday after practice. “About what each player can do better, what we were going to do better collectively. Coaching staff. Medical staff. Everybody. We just wanted to figure this thing out leading up to the day of the Brooklyn game. And it worked out for us.

“…Lot of emotions,” Davis said when asked to describe the meeting. “Guys voicing their opinions. Some back and forth. But it was all for the nature of trying to get better. So even though it might be a back-and-forth, it was, ‘OK, I hear what you’re saying, you hear what I’m saying. So now, what’s the solution?’ Instead of just constantly butting heads. So it was some good dialogue.”

Many feel such team meetings rarely yield substantial results, but sometimes they actually do.

The Lakers have some very winnable games coming up over the next few weeks, and if they start stringing together victories, the mood around the team, not to mention observers’ opinions of it, could significantly change.
