Just when Anthony Davis was playing arguably the best sustained basketball of his career, he suffered a stress injury in his right foot nearly three weeks ago and has been out of action ever since.

Davis also revealed that he has a bone spur in the same foot that may require surgery this summer.

The Los Angeles Lakers returned home earlier this week after going 3-2 on a five-game road trip, and according to reports, Davis is continuing to make progress in his rehab from his injury.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the superstar big man is “relatively pain free” and that he has even started to do some running.

In addition, Lakers head coach Darvin Ham said Davis recently had another MRI and that he is “going right according to plan.”

One has to expect that Davis is likely still at least a couple of weeks away from returning to game action. But this type of progress is very encouraging, and it does appear that a return sometime later this month could be realistic.
