It is no secret that injuries have ravaged Los Angeles Lakers superstar big man Anthony Davis over the last two years.

There has been a calf strain, Achilles tendonosis, a groin injury, a sprained MCL and a sprained foot, all of which have prevented him from appearing in more than 40 games in either of the last two seasons.

It caused former NBA superstar and “Inside the NBA” analyst Charles Barkley to nickname Davis “Street Clothes.”

The big man insisted that he disregards Barkley’s criticism of his inability to remain healthy.

Via Los Angeles Times:

“I don’t care what he says,” Davis said. “People say stuff for ratings. Like, they got to push their show, push their blog, push their podcast, whatever it is. So, people got to say something to bring in viewers. It is what it is. I go out there and play basketball and let them do their job. My job is to hoop. Their job is to talk about me.”

Davis played well in the Lakers’ regular season opener on Tuesday, putting up 27 points, as well as four steals against the Golden State Warriors.

Unfortunately, he and LeBron James didn’t get enough support offensively, resulting in a 123-109 loss.

Davis stated a few weeks ago that he wants to play in all 82 games this season. His ability to play in at least 65-70 contests will be a huge key to his team’s success.
