Andy Murray withdraws from the French Open with the Brit set to focus on the grass court season ahead of Wimbledon

Andy Murray has withdrawn from the French Open with the British star now set to focus his attentions on the grass court season in preparation for Wimbledon.

The 36-year-old had questioned whether he would play at Roland Garros after suffering first round exits on the clay in Monte Carlo and Madrid.

Murray had bounced back from the two early exits at the Masters 1000 events by winning the Aix-en-Provence Challenger event.

The result marked his first title since 2019.

Murray was then beaten by Italy’s Fabio Fognini in straight sets at the Masters 1000 event in Rome, before losing 6-3, 6-0 to former French Open champion Stan Wawrinka at the Bordeaux Challenger on Wednesday.
