Andy Murray’s immaculate start to the grass court season continued as a seventh straight win took him into Nottingham’s quarter-finals in front of the watching Ivan Lendl.

The Scot, 36, completed a clean sweep of British winners on Centre Court yesterday after victories for Katie Boulter, Harriet Dart and Jodie Burrage, all of whom also reached the last eight.

Murray, who secured his first grass title in seven years in Surbiton last week, is striving to be one of Wimbledon’s 32 seeds this summer. He still has work to do with his current world ranking of 44 but with the help of Lendl, his on-off mentor who guided him to SW19 glory in 2013 and 2016, he is certainly heading in the right direction.

Facing Hugo Grenier, the Frenchman ranked 127th in the world, Murray was ruthless. Continuing to look the picture of health, he won 6-3, 7-5 in 104 minutes and said: ‘I feel like I moved well. I’m recovering well.

‘I’m an old boy now so it takes me longer to recover but I’m feeling good. I love competing.’
