Draymond Green’s future with the Golden State Warriors had been a discussion point throughout the 2022-23 season. Any concern of Green leaving in free agency was ultimately put to bed, as the veteran forward inked a four-year $100 million deal to stay with the Warriors on June 30.

According to Fox Sports Rich Bucher, who was speaking on a recent episode of ‘The Herd,’ keeping Green was an integral part of the Warriors’ ability to contend for championships moving forward. Bucher also noted how Green’s presence helps bring the best out of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson.

“Draymond is as important to Steph and Klay Thompson as Steph and Kay are to Draymond,” Bucher said. “They had no interest in seeing those two without Draymond because the general thing out there is that Draymond’s the beneficiary of playing with Steph and Klay. Well, they are very much the beneficiaries of playing with him as well.”

During the regular season, Green was often rumored to be a potential target for the Los Angeles Lakers due to his friendship with LeBron James. Those rumors appear to have been wide of the mark. Green will likely see out the remaining years of his career with the Warriors in the hope of adding to his four championship rings.

Golden State’s chances of making a deep playoff push next received a big boost during the early stages of the offseason when the Warriors acquired Chris Paul and Cory Joseph to round out their guard rotation. Now, Golden State will be looking to add some size before turning their attention toward training camp.
