Allen Edmonds is celebrating 100 years making long-lasting footwear by collaborating with similarly minded partners.

The Caleres-owned shoe brand’s new “Legends Series” campaign centers around partnerships with iconic labels and designers. Each participating brand will revise and release a single, signature piece from the other’s collection for sale to their collective audiences.

To kick off the effort, Allen Edmonds has teamed with Barbour. Available starting this week, the capsule includes a limited-edition version of the British country chic brand’s Evelar wax jacket and Allen Edmonds’ Higgins mill boot. The field-tested, logging-inspired boot represents a core staple in the Allen Edmonds line, and is handmade at its Port Washington, Wisc. factory. Barbour’s influence manifests in a padded corduroy ankle lining, durable nubuck uppers and a wax fabric tongue, while the interior of the lace-up style is lined in Barbour’s signature tartan fabric. Retailing for $475, the style is available on Allen Edmonds’ and Barbour’s e-commerce sites, as well as the former’s retail stores.

Meanwhile, the new adaptation of Barbour’s Evelar jacket retains its waxed cotton shell in an olive colorway, with brass buttons, a tartan lining, corduroy collar and zipper closure. Details such as a small Allen Edmonds’ flag and dual-branded pin badge differentiate the cool-weather staple. The limited-edition version retails for $330.

Barbour

Barbour jackets have epitomized traditional British style for more than a century. A royal favorite, the late Queen Elizabeth, King Charles III, and Princess of Wales Kate Middleton have all been photographed wearing the outerwear over the years.

Calling the partnership a natural fit, Barbour North America president of sales Andy Hill said that both labels share a century-old legacy rooted in “quality and craft.”

“Like Allen Edmonds, we at Barbour pride ourselves on sturdy, fit for purpose products made with quality long-lasting materials, and we offer services to extend the life of your garments,” he added. “This allows our customers to enjoy their Barbour for many years and to pass their pieces on through generations.”

Barbour offers recrafting services to preserve the wax coating on its jackets, and Allen Edmonds said that its boots can be sent to its Wisconsin factory for restoration. These repair programs aim to keep products useful for longer.

“Our brands are both rooted in this shared value,” Allen Edmonds senior vice president David Law said in a statement, noting the “growing mindset of quality-seeking men who value craftsmanship and premium materials, a revival actually.”

“In launching our Legend Series, Barbour was the first brand that came to mind,” he added. “The Series will continue into 2023 in partnership with other storied makers, brands and artisans who share our passion for craft and are invited to re-engineer an iconic style in their own way.”
