First teased in March 2021, the Air Jordan 5 “Jade Horizon” finally launches a stateside boutiques tomorrow, April 9th.
Inspired by the beauty obtained through wear, tear and age, the upcoming retro indulges in a green-colored, high-quality leather throughout its upper. Mesh panels at the mid-foot and TPU components along the tongue deviate from the jade-reminiscent tone that takes over their surroundings in favor of a yellow tint informed by the natural oxidation process of several Air Jordan releases (including the fifth model’s earliest pairs). Lace toggles and traction pods underfoot also follow suit, creating a proposition that may turn some sneaker enthusiasts away, while attracting others. Midsoles on the “Jade Horizon” style predominantly boast a “Black” color that allows for the touch of silver that animates the shark tooth-reminiscent detail on the lateral forefoot to appear that much more prominently. Lastly, Jumpman logos on the spine take on a similar silver ensemble.
