The Air Jordan 13 may not boast the same popularity as some of the single digit models from Michael Jordan’s eponymous imprint, but it’s historical importance can’t be understated.

Over the past two years, the black panther-inspired design has emerged in a series of non-original ensembles with varying degrees of success. Ahead of the holiday season, Tinker Hatfield’s 11th contribution to the Air Jordan line appeared in a “Black” and “University Blue” colorway that expands the University of North Carolina (UNC) “homages.” Dark-colored, dimpled mesh makes up most of the pair’s upper, while a Tar Heels-friendly blue lands across the mudguard, around the heel and across the paw-informed sole unit. Some netizens have taken to social media to voice their preference of a similarly-styled Air Jordan 14 from 2006, although the latest “UNC” retro is sure to find a home within countless sneaker rotations for its heritage-inspired, clean look.
