Despite the ASICS GEL-Lyte III celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2021, it seems the split tongue-donning design has some unfinished business, as it’s set to release in two colorways inspired by the subway systems in Tokyo and New York City in collaboration with atmos.
Far from both brands’ first time working with each other, the upcoming capsule takes quite direct approach to the collaborative theme. Each upper on the GEL-Lyte III duo is covered in a high-quality leather that features a Google Maps-like print of both aforementioned public transit systems. The Tokyo-dedicated pair features kanji at the tip of the toe, as well as a predominantly white makeover, whereas the offering honoring the “Big Apple” indulges in a darker color palette. Sole units between both atmos x ASICS designs also differ, as the Tokyo Metro’s map is accompanied by a slightly-yellowed midsole.
