Victorinox adidas EQT Support 93 “Swiss Army Knife” GV6830

While European neighbors, Victorinox and adidas have occupied vastly different industries since their founding in 1884 and 1949, respectively. Recently, however, the global institutions have revealed a joint-effort that combines their mutual commitment to craftsmanship and heritage in the form of an EQT Support 93 sneaker.

Official images of the pair don’t reveal a physical Swiss Army knife packaged with the shoes, but the tool’s likeness is found all across the collaboration. For starters, the early-1990s design is reimagined with the classic red color that has graced Victorinox’s beloved pocket companions for decades. Co-branding throughout the shoe box and footwear from a bond between Switzerland and Germany, with the former leaving its mark most prominently on the left shoe. Third-party materials the like of CORDURA® and GORE-TEX membranes aren’t spotlighted on the latest adidas EQT proposition, but the sneaker’s upper consists of a number of components that seemingly up the durability ante in comparison to standard offerings. 3-Stripes detailing on the profiles opt for a highly-visible, reflective finish, though it’s cut short on the medial side by Victorinox’s shield-like logo. Laces are also reimagined through the lens of military-reminiscent gear as their toggle system enables fast securing and loosening of the pair.

Stability structures around the heel get a notable makeover, too, introducing an “abstract” pattern into the mix. As aforementioned, the left shoe showcases the Swiss company’s branding more, with a graphic of the utilitarian muse brandishing all its inner contents. Medial sidewalls are embellished with a leather carrying case big enough to holster a Swiss Army knife, though official product shots don’t confirm that one is included with the collaboration’s purchase. Nevertheless, the fined-tuned offering will surely serve as a treat to any collector, as it marks a distinct point in two disparate partners’ histories.
