The Boston Celtics won their first game of the NBA’s 2023 Las Vegas Summer League on Wednesday night vs. the Los Angeles Lakers with a 95-90 victory behind a breakout game by rookie wing Jordan Walsh. The former Arkansas Razorback put up a game-high 25 points, and 8 rebounds performance while shooting 2-of-7 from beyond the arc,
Walsh had support in the victory from guard Jay Scrubb (18 points, 6 boards, 4 assists off of the bench) and floor general Dalano Banton, who had 12 points and 6 assists in his summer league debut. Celtics two way point guard JD Davison had a much more polished game including a double-double with 11 points, as many boards, and 6 assists, and Boston wing Justin Champagnie also had a solid outing with 10 points and 7 boards.
With the win, Boston now improves to 1-2 in Las Vegas Summer League action.
The Celtics next take on the New York Knicks for the final of their summer league slate of games, barring a Las Vegas postseason berth.
