Ben Stokes tests his serving skills at Wimbledon as the England captain takes a break from the Ashes

England captain Ben Stokes took a break from the drama of the Ashes series against Australia by testing his tennis skills at Wimbledon on Wednesday.

Stokes was pictured alongside his wife Clare Ratcliffe at the All England Club.

The couple were among the high profile guests at Centre Court on the second day of quarter-final action at the championships.

Stokes also tried his hand on a serve simulation booth during his visit to SW19, with the 32-year-old posting a video of his effort.

The England Test captain joked that it was ‘just a loosener’ in a message accompanying the video, with the simulator measuring serve speed.

Stokes was not the only cricketer at the centre of Ashes drama to visit Wimbledon, with Australian batsman Steve Smith also spotted.

The stars were enjoying a brief break from the Ashes series, following England’s dramatic victory in the third Test on Sunday.

England’s win by three wickets saw the hosts breathe life into the Ashes, with Stokes’ side now trailing Australia 2-1 in the best of five series.

The crucial fourth Test will take place at Old Trafford between July 19 to 23 as England look to draw level.

Drama on Wednesday was reserved for Centre Court, with Stokes watching on as Ons Jabeur’s beat defending champion Elena Rybakina in the women’s singles quarter-finals.

Jabuer avenged her loss to the Kazakh player in last year’s Wimbledon final, with the Tunisian star fighting back from a set down to win 6-7, 6-4, 6-1.

Men’s world number one Carlos Alcaraz faces Holger Rune in the second match on Centre Court, with the young stars eyeing a maiden Wimbledon semi-final.
