British tennis benefited by nearly £50million thanks to Wimbledon last year.

The Lawn Tennis Association’s accounts, published yesterday, showed they got just over £43m from the Championships in 2022, plus a £5m grant to support other grass court events.

According to the LTA’s research, increasing numbers are playing the sport. It is claimed there has been a 48 per cent participation increase among 16-34-year-olds.
