The 2022-23 NBA regular season has come to an end as the playoffs are officially set beginning with the play-in tournament and then the first round.

For one former North Carolina standout, he had the opportunity to earn a start and extra playing time on Sunday. And he took advantage of that opportunity.

Forward Theo Pinson recorded his first career NBA triple-double on Sunday as the Dallas Mavericks fell to the San Antonio Spurs 138-117. Pinson finished the game with 23 points, 13 rebounds, 12 assists, a steal and 0 turnovers.

Pinson also became the first Mavericks player not named Luka Donic to have a 20/12/12 triple-double since 1999.

What may have been more impressive is that Pinson had a triple-double after three-quarters of play and added to his line the rest of the way.

Pinson got his first career start on Sunday after the Mavericks were eliminated from postseason play with a loss to the Chicago Bulls on Friday night. With the Mavericks not making the playoffs, this was a chance to see what they had on the roster with a few players. And Pinson certainly delivered in a big way.
