The IPL 2023 auction will be held in Kochi on December 16 with several players going under the hammer. Each of the 10 teams will by then figure out exactly the players they would want in their respective team. In addition to their remaining purse, each team will be given an additional five crores to spend this year. As per a BCCI official, the overall purse will be between 90-95 crores.
The teams have been asked to submit the list of players the franchises are willing to release by November 15 by the BCCI. All the teams are expected to release the list of extra or unused players so that they can go into the IPL 2023 auction looking to fill the gaps.
Mumbai Indians, the five-time IPL champions surprisingly finished last in IPL 2022 losing four games and winning just 10. Nothing seemed to go work for Rohit Sharma‘s team. Rohit as the skipper himself was not in good form. he finished the season with just 268 runs in 14 matches with no fifty-plus scores. His lack of form showed in his captaincy as well as he was not able to take any tough calls.

1) Jonny Bairstow
The opening partnership was a real struggle for Mumbai Indians last year. The openers used to get dismissed very early with the middle-order needing to take on the pressure. Heading into this IPL season, Rohit Jonny Bairstow should be an ideal foil for Rohit Sharma. Bairstow plays with an attacking approach which will allow Rohit to take his time.
After playing initially for Sunrises Hyderabad and scoring over 1000 runs in four seasons, Bairstow joined Punjab Kings and scored 253 runs in 11 matches last year. If Punjab releases Bairstow, Mumbai should go for him. He missed the T20 World Cup due to a freakish injury at the golf course but is expected to be fit by the time IPL starts.
